PLAN FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
Get excited! Below you’ll find a few instructions to familiarize yourself with before your appointment:
If you are under the care of a physician and taking prescribed medications:
- Check with your doctor regarding interactions and any medications you may choose to use in preparation for or for use during your procedures (see details below).
- Do NOT discontinue medication prescribed by your physician without consulting them first.
Plan ahead for your procedure(s):
- Don’t have any caffeine the day of your appointment.
- Alcohol should be avoided 48 hours prior to your procedure.
- Avoid taking any medically unnecessary Ibuprofen, Naproxen, vitamin E, fish oil or aspirin in the 7 days before you come, most importantly the 48 hours prior to appointment.
- Take allergy medication like Claritin the night before you come and an hour before your appointment.
- I strongly recommend you take 3 vitamin K-1 pills per day for 5 days before your procedure. You can get these at The Vitamin Shoppe, Amazon or many other pharmacies or drug stores. Vitamin K-1 supplements help prevent bleeding, bruising and swelling resulting in better pigments retention. Eating spinach or prunes will help with this also.
- For permanent eyeliner procedures:
- Discontinue any lash serums until after your appointment.
- Lash extensions need to be removed at least 2 days ahead of time and should be left off until after your touch up application has healed (about 10-14 days after touch up appointment).
- Do not dye or perm lashes for 2 days prior.
- Do not wear contact lenses during the procedure or 24 hours after.
- Bring sunglasses to wear home. Your eyes will be light sensitive.
- You may ask your doctor if there are medications that you can take, such as Benedryl, Tylenol, Zanax or Valium immediately prior to this procedure to help you relax or control discomfort if you feel you need to. Please also know that you may need to plan for someone to pick you up if you feel like you may be unable to safely drive.
***If you have had any type of eye surgery, consult the physician on the advised time frame before having a permanent eyeliner procedure.***
- For permanent eyebrow procedures:
- Do not wax, dye or tweeze the brows 2 days prior to the procedure.
- Any Electrolysis should be done at least one week prior to the procedure.
- For permanent lip procedures:
- If you have EVER had a cold sore or fever blister you MUST get a prescription for Zovirax, Valtrex, or other prescribed medication from your doctor or dentist. This MUST be taken in ORAL form, not cream. You MUST pre-medicate with the oral anti-viral 1-2 days prior, the day of, and for 1-2 days after. You will want to inform your doctor or dentist that you will need enough medication to take daily for 3-5 days. You’ll also need the same amount for any touch-up applications.
- Lips are a muscle without hair follicles or pores. If you have a lot of scar tissue in your lips, the results may be lessened in color intensity or may require an extra touch-up application. Of note* A lipstick look can not be achieved with lip tattooing. However, a beautiful natural watercolor shade is a realistic goal!!!
